ATTENDANCE
Bob Kost, Chairman, Virginia Sweatt, Bruce Kokal , Mariann Kienzler,
Thomas Casey, and Philip Bradley were present. John Gerhardson from
the Orono City staff was also present. Members absent were Erger & Kelley.
APPROVAL OF MINfJTES
Minutes from the October 5th, 1987 Park Commission meeting were
approved.
BIRE-HIRE TRAIL PI�AN
Various elements regarding the bike-hike trail were discussed such
as :
A) A safety stripe being painted at the Spring Park/County Road
19 intersection.
B) Inviting the Orono Police Chief to attend one of the Park
Commission meetings to review safety ideas.
C) Involve the Mound, Spring Park, and Long Lake communities
with the trail plans.
D) Check with Hennepin County to discuss trail plans.
E) Having a foot bridge over Highway 12 at Old Crystal Bay Road.
The current areas being considered for the bike-hike trail are:
l. South Brown Road from County Road 51 - to Fox Street - to
Orono Orchard Road - to Long Lake (east side route) .
2. Willow Road - (north and south) .
3 . Old Crystal Bay Road - (north and south) .
4 . Bayside Road - (east and west) .
5. McCully Road - (West Branch to North Arm - to Tonkaview
Lane) .
6 . County Road 19 through Navarre.
ON-GOING AGENDA
Bike - Hike Trail - Each Park Commission member was assigned a
separate section of the bike-hike system to inspect and review for the
December lst meeting.
Park Surv� - The old park survey will be reviewed at the December
meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
Meeting was adjourned at 9 :10. The next Park Commission meeting is
scheduled for December lst, 1987 , at 7 : 00 p.m. (not at the Minnetonka
Mist! )
