E ATTENDANCE - Virginia Sweatt, Bruce Kokal, Bob Kost, Lee "�ger, Mariann Kienzler, "�o�f�CF''��'� and Les Kelley were present. John Gerhardson from the Orono City staff was also present. Phil Bradley was absent. APPROVAL - Minutes from the June 2, 1987 Park Commission were approved OF with attendence being amended to add Lee Urger as present. MINUTES LIVINGSTON TOWER PARK LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS - The landscape plan for the Livingston Tower Park has been revised and will be presented to the Orono City Council By Bob Kost. USER/NEEDS SURVEY - The council may need to be informed about the study - TOP OF THE LIST ITEM. ON-GOING AGENDA - Commission members should be prepared to discuss the followin� items at the next meeting: 1. The Park Commission comprehensive plan - Bob Kost reviewed Part I. sections 8-3 and 8-7 at the July 7th meeting. The park analysis table will be read and discussed. 2. Park Promotions - Virginia Sweatt agreed to contact the local newspaper for setting up submission of articles about the Orono Parks. PARK SURVEY-IMPROVEMENT SiJNA4ARY - 1. Casco skating rink needs a new sign - could also use play equipment. (see minutes from May 12th meeting) A skating shelter was also mentioned as a possible addition. �,,(.�,_�"�. 2. Lee Antoine skating shelter needs work. 3. Highwood Nature Trail - very undeveloped. Needs attention. 4. Bederwood Park - remove unsightly snow fence - replace with a chain link fence. Also mentioned were - adding a bike trail, running/fitness trail, and a bridge to connect both parts of the park. 5. Hackberry Park - was discussed at the July 27th City Council meeting - (will discuss in detail.) 6. Summitt Park - needs enclosures around the chemical toilets- similar to the one at Bederwood. Also - needs a new sign. 7. Crystal Bay Playground - trees could be moved to create more space. ADJOURNMENT - The meeting was ad�ourned at 9:05 p.m. August ,�, 1987 is the next scheduled meeting. �
