ATTENDANCE
Mariann Kienzler, Phil Bradley, Bruce Kokal and Bob Kost were
present. John Gerhardson from the Orono City staff was also
present. Virginia Sweatt, Les Kelley and Lee Erger were absent.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from the May 12, 1987 Park Commission meeting were
approved with attendance being amended to add Bob Kost as present.
MAINTENANCE SIIRVEY/PARR TOOR
Commissioners visited Bederwood Park, Hackberry Park and Summit
Park. All parks appeared well maintained. Potential improvements
will be discussed at the next meeting.
LIVINGSTON TOWER PARR LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS
John Gerhardson reported that he is reluctant to request bids
until plan has been presented to City Council. Bob Kost will
prepare a memo for up coming Council meetings and present the plan
and construction estimate to the Council. He will also visit the
City nursery area with John Gerhardson to explore the possibility
of using City trees in the proposed landscape plan.
CRAIG CHRISTIANSON (I�OCAL T-BALL COACH)
He addressed Commission regarding park maintenance/lawn cutting.
He is very pleased with the level of maintenance so far this year
and hopes the City will continue its good performance. He would
also like to see ag-lime infields dragged smooth more often.
ON-GOING AGENDA
Commissioners should be prepared to discuss the following items at
the next meeting:
1 ) Livingston Tower Park revisions and sculpture.
2 ) Comprehensive Plan/recommendation and changes.
3) Amendments to Council resolution that establishes the Park
Commission duties, responsibilities, etc.
4 ) a. Park Survey/improvement summary;
b. User needs survey.
5 ) Parks promotion.
6 ) Welcoming new Park Board Member.
PARR COMMISSION SECRETARY
Mariann Kienzler volunteered to assume duties of Park Commission
secretary, i.e. prepare meeting minutes for City staff to type and
distribute. The chairman will seek a temporary volunteer upon her
absence.
LETTER FROM TERRY MORSE
Commissioners read and discussed letter of resignation from Terry
Morse.
ADJOURNMENT
Meeting was adjourned at 8 :15 p.m. The next Park Commission
meeting is scheduled for July 7th, 1987, at 7:00 p.m.
