PAGE 1 ATTENDANCE The Orono Park Commission met on the above date with the following members present: Peterson, Stinson, Kelley, Erger, Bradley, Kienzler and Kost. Secretary Sweatt was ab- sent. Public Works Coordinator Gerhardson represented the City staff. INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS The following new members were introduced: Phil Bradley, Marianne Kienzler and Bob Kost. STUBBS'S BAY There was discussion concerning a structure on Stubb's Bay Road that has been donated to the City. Members were asked to try and come up with uses for this structure since it does have historical value. Discussion of places which would be appropriate for the building included: should it be moved to the school campus area? uses as a library? would Hennepin County be interested? what would the cost be to move the structure? should it go to Bederwood Park? Is there funding available to renovate the structure? Members were asked to think of different organizations which might be willing to donate funds. At the next meeting, the Commission should consider a recommendation to the Council as to what should be done with the donated structure. The building is on the corner of Stubb's Bay Road and Watertown Road. It is currently located on property donated to the University of Minnesota. GREENWAY SOCIETY A brief description of the Greenway Society was given to each member. Members were asked to read it over before the next meeting. Mr. Surrey Gage, an active member of the Society will be asked to speak at the next meeting regarding this group, to give us an in depth picture of this groups activities. CITY PARRS John Gerhardson showed the new members the location and what was available at each City park. Swimming beaches were included in the introduction. PARR FACILITY TOURS Plans were initiated to have a joint "get- together" with the Council , Planning Commis- sion and Park Commission as well as members of the City staff to tour each park facility. A tentative date was set for June 4 , 1985 at 6 P.M. Finalization of these plans will be made a a later date. 1 MINUTES OF THE PARR COMMISSION MEETING HELD APRIL 2, 1985. PAGE 2 NOERENBERG COUNTY PARR Information regarding a special advisory com- mittee put together by the County was noted. The final draft of this committee's work is available at the City officies. Any in- terested Park Commission Members were informed that they could obtain a copy through the City. DATE SET FOR NEXT MEETING The next meeting was scheduled for May 7 , 1985 at 7 P.M. All members were asked to attend. MEETING ADJOURNED
