Park Commission Meeting of May 5 , 1981.
Present Lee Erqer, Les Kelley, Lee Tomlinson, Marv Ann Stinson
and Ginny Sweatt.
In stead of a regular meeting, the Commission decided to look
over some of the more important z�arks and beaches in Orono.
We walked 'the terrain at Bederwood, with John �erhardson, inspec-
ting the new land fill, the area near the well where the water
holding tank will be located and looked at future tree planting
sites.
Next we took a look at Summit Park on Lonq Lake, noticing the fine
sandy beach and rise where picnic tables miqht be well located.
[ae saw the� need for tree & bush cutting as there are several dead
elms and much underbrush covering the former house site.
�ae quicklv looked over the softball field on T�7illow Drive, the
Parcel of �aooded land behin�. the Navarre Shoppinq area where grass
has been planted, and drove out to see the narks on Casco Point.
We were particularly im�ressed with the size and unspoiled beauty_
of Casco Circle Park. As dusk fell we insnected the beach at
Casco Point where the dock was already up and waiting for the
warmer weather and first eager bathers.
