Erger, Tomlinson, Watson, Peterson,
Sweatt, John Gerhardson also attended.
Bruce Dayton has offered to the City of WAKEFIELD FARMS OUTLET
Orono a one acre parcel for a park adjacent
to property off Old Long Lake Road. Because
the land is low and wet, and because the
development of additional park facilities
is not needed in this area, the Park Com-
mission recommends to the City that this
property be respectfully declined as a
park property. The motion was made by
Lee Tomlinson, seconded by Barbara
Peterson. Passed
The Park Commissioners are requested to SANDY BEACH COMPLAINTS
personally look at the property and come
to the next meeting with some suggestions.
Neighbors to one side of the beach have
complained to the Orono City Council that
there is a parking problem and abuse of rules
in the swimming area. Petitions were submitted
both for and against closing or tightening con-
trols of the beach area.
The City has passed a resolution which COUNCIL RESOLUTION
states in part that park dedication funds
be used only within the City of Orono for
parks, playgrounds , etc. . See attached sheet.
Therefore, the funds cannot be used for the
Westonka Ice and Recreation Center.
Members of the Park Commission are asked SUMMIT PARK
to come to the May meeting with ideas in
hand for improvement to Summit Park.
Respectfully submitted,
Virginia E. Sweatt
Secretary
