The Orono Park Commission met on the above ATTENDANCE date with the following members present: Watson, P�lassengale, Tomlinson, Sweatt, Ke11y. John Gerhardson Public Works Coordinator also � attended. The minutes of the September meeting were read �1INUTES and approved by members present. . Virginia (Ginny) Sweatt was introduced as the NEW MEMBER OF PARK COMM. newest member of the Orono Park Commission, replacing Dianne Goetten. She agreed to go before the City Council on October 13th for approval . The Babe Ruth baseball field at Bederwood BEDERWOOD PARK Park has been graded, seeded, and mulched. The backstop may be put in this fall . The aglime application has been made 66 feet long but the regulation distance is 90 feet. John Gerhardson will check with the city engineer to see whether 90 feet is feasible here. This Friday there will be a bid opening to sink a well for drinking water and sprink- ling the grass. It may run near $7000.00 ' with the pump house and underground sprink- . ling system. The park commission suggested � that plans be made to include night lighting for the park. Boy Scout Troop #724 helped clean Daniels DANIELS-ELLIOT PARK Park up and seeded it. There is an existing fence which may be removed for future use. Part of the park touching County Rd. #19 is now used for carpooling. Additional land may become available to expand this park in the future. • John Gerhardson has ordered a backstop for MTKA. SURVEY the survey of Park facilities that were - RESULTS considered most important to the residents of Orono. Swimming beaches and tennis courts ranked high on the list. The survey will be used for reference in many future commission discussions. Les Kelly suggested that we develop and SUMMIT PARK propose a long range plan for the Summit Park property on Long Lake.
