HACKBERRY PARK
This ball park is quite popular--a PARK COMMENTS
ballgame was in progress as we drove
by. The dead trees have been replaced
and the new trees are doing well. Due
_ to the heavy use of this park, John
Gerhardson has been notified of the
need of a satellite.
BEDERWOOD PARK
Tomlinson reported that he saw Captain
Langhoff today and was told that his
battalion will be unable to do the grading
that we requested due to a heavy work
schedule. Watson suggested that the
Park Commission approach the city council
on June 30 to give us authorization to
accept bids for this work.
Playground eguipment is on order and
will be placed on the southeast corner
of the field.
ANTOINE PARK
This is a very attractive park with
playground equipment being put to
good use.
NAVARRE PLAYGROUND
We looked at the new area across the
' street that will be cleared shortly
for this playground equipment. This
will be a far more desirable play area.
CASCO CIRCLE PARK
We drove all around this lovely wooded
area. A great place for nature hikes
or a solitary walk.
The Park Commission was very impressed
with the general upkeep of all the parks
we saw on our tour. All had been recently
mowed and are a definite asset to Orono.
Massengale reported that she is continuing
her work on the results of our survey.
She is unable to use a computer due to the
cost and is tabulating results herself.
40 more surveys have been returned for a
total of 628.
