Regular meeting of tne Orono Park Commission held December 4, 1979.
The Orono Park Commission met on tne ATTENDANCE
above date with tne following members
present: Chairman Tomlinson, Erger,
Kelley, Massengale and Goetten. Not
Present: Peterson and Watson.
The minutes of tne November meeting were MINUTES
read and approved.
Tomlinaon informed the Park Commission
tYiat Deborah Massengale was officially
appointed a member of the Park Commission
by tne City Council. �
A draft of the comprehensive plan was COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
recently sent to all Park Commission
members by Dick Benson. This guideline
will serve to help us define the future
role oP the Park Co�niasion.
Tomlinson asked the Park Commission BICYCL� SAF`ETY PROGRAM
membera their views on a Bicycle Safety
Program for our area. He had an applica-
tion for a grant from the University of
Minnesota to promote bicycle safety sent
to Chief Kilbo that would provide:
1 . State Registration of Bikea
2, SaPety Checks
. 3. Spot checks
Motion to that effect was made by Goetten, MOTION WAS MADE
seconded by Kelley that the Park Commission
encourage the application by the Orono Police
Department to seek f�znda to be used in a Bicycle
Safe�y Program.
Massengale s�ated that ahe is seeking approval SIIRVEY
from the University of Minnesota for credit
regarding the com�nunity survey to be taken.
Discussion oP the upcoming survey fol.lowed
by Park Co�nission members and it was pro-
• • posed that a special meeting be held including
council and Planning Coman3.ss�on members to
lay out the guidelines for the surve9 and the
Administrative methods by which the aurvey
will be conducted. Members were asked to

next mesting Jancuary 8, 1980.
