PARK COMMISSION
Regular meeting of the Orono Park Commission held October 2, • 1979.
The Orono Park Commission met on the above ATTENDANCE
date with the following members present:
Chairman Tomlinson, Watson, Kelley, Peterson,
and Goetten. Not Present; Erger.
The minutes of the September meeting were MINUTES
unavailable for review.
Tomlinson stated that this was his last LAST METTING OF TOMLINSON
meeting as chairman of the Park Commission,
although he will continue as a member. He
reported his resignation as Chairman to the
City Council along with a request for a re-
placement for Roland Berglund.
Tomlinson made a closing statement as Cha�.rman ROLE OF PARK COMMISSION
to the Park Commission members present. He re-
layed his thoughts on the role the Park Commission
should take in the years ahead in this rural area.
l. Become an activist regarding Park Projects.
2. Perhaps do studies in long range planning;
la. Correlation of population figures as other
government bodies do.
Park Commission members discussed attending COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA
council meetings to push for the development
of Bederwood Park. Watson suggested that we
call each of the council members and let them
know we would like to be placed on the agenda
to get Bederwood Park graded. All Park Comm-
ission members were asked to attend the next
council meeting on October 16th to show our
support for this project.

SUBJECT: Bederwood Park Ball Diamond Constructior�
At your request I have evaluated with City E�gineer, Mr. Glenn Cook
the possibility of completing the grading, seeding, and ag. liming
the Baseball Diamond at Bederwood Park.
It is our opinion that there would not be enough time to, bid the
project, present those bids to council for approval, and complete
the project before' winter of 1979..
