CITY OF ORONO
PARK COMMISSION
Regular meeting of the Orono Park Commission held September 4, 1979.
The Orono Park Commission met on the above ATTENDANCE
date with the following members present :
C'hairman Tomlinson, Kelley, Peterson, also
attending by invitation; John Gerhardson
Public Works Coordinator.
The minutes of the August meeting. MINUTES
Tomlinson reported that the application for LAWCON-LCMR
LAWCON-LCMR funds for Bederwood Park was not
considered at this time. Application will be
made again early next year.
Due to heavy scheduling, the Army Engineering MOTION-ARMY ENGINEER
Battallion will be unable to schedule the
grading for Bederwood. For that reason a
motion was made by Kelley, seconded by Erger.
RESOLVED: that $5, 000.00 be requested for
grading of a baseball field at Bederwood
Park as per engineer' s proposal and the
project to be completed in the Fall 1979.
Motion was unanimously passed.
Tomlinson made a suggestion that both City PARK COMMISSION PROPOSALS
Council and Park Commission members have a
joint meeting to discuss short and long
range Park Commission proposals. Tomlinson
will invite the City Council next week and
request that this be scheduled for the next
Park Commission meeting on October 2, 1979.
The City Council asked the Park Commission SUMMIT PARK
to expand it' s list of suggestions for the
development of Summit Park. A suggestion
was made that the services of a professional
planner would be helpful.

The motion was unanimously passed.
In an agreement between the Minnetonka MINNETONKA ART CENTER
Art Center and the Park Commission, the
Art Center offered us recreational space
in return for snow removal and lawn main-
tenance. Due to their expansion, this
space tias been unavailable. Tomlinson and
John Gerhardson recently looked at this
Park area and decided that the playgound
equipment can be returned. The park
commission supports this decision.
John Gerhardson hopes to reinstall the
playground equipment this month.
Tomlinson noted the vacancy on the park VACANCY
commission left by Roland Berglund and
asked members for suggestions.
�Ibmlinson told us of his intention to TOMLINSON INTENTION
resign the C'hairmanship of the Park i
Commission at the October meeting.
