TIrs. Patterson expressed concern regarding BIKE TRAILS CONCERN
the inclusion of bicycle trails along County
Rd. 15 if the road ia to be repaved in conjun-
ction with the current sewer excavation. ___
According to John Gerhardson tre roadway itself
is not going to be rebuilt, the sewer route
is in the ditches and sh.oulders off- the road-
way. He felt the county would probably be
considering repaving County Rd. 15 in the next
few years, and should be reminded of the desire
of the City of Orono to include bike paths in
the plannir. Chairman Tomlinson will s ee that
this is done.
The Bederwood Park Babe Ruth baseball field was BEDERWOOD PARK
discussed. The Park Commissions request for
funding was presented, on Ma9 22nd, to the Orono
City Council, an amount of $6000 for additional
grading, re-seeding, and installation of an
ag-lime infield, as resolved at the May Park
Commission meeting. The council has requested
further information, as well as an indication
of public support for the pro;ect. Peggy
Watson is going to prepare a letter outlining
the needs for the Babe Ruth Size field, for
presentation at the Jvne 12th council meeting.
Also prepared for that meeting will be the
cit9 engineer' s study of the physical layout
of the park, and a breakdown of the expected
costs. .
Mr. John Newman has contacted Chairman SOCCER GOALS HACKBERRY
Tomlinson regarding the installation of
"permanent" soccer goals at Hackberry Park.
Approval was granted, provided the goals are
constructed to be moved occasionally to pre-
vent destruction of the grass. This will be
done by installing alternate "wells" in to
which the goals mount.
