PARK COMMISSION
Regular mee ting of the Orono Park Cor►mii s sion

The Orono Park Conm�.i.ssion met on the above
date with the following members present:
Chairman Tomlinson, �ger, Kelley, Watson.
Not Present : Berglund, Lathrop, Peterson.
The minutes of the September meeting were app-
roved. MINUTES
Chairman Tomlir.son reported to the comanission R�ORT OF CITY COUNCIL
the results of his appearance before the city
council in September.
1 . The council accepted the recommendation
from the Park Commission to n�me the Dayton
property "Surarru.t Park".
2. The recommendation that no f�.inds be ex-
pended on the Highwood Lake access for recrea-
tional purposes was appreciated by the council.
3. �e Council was informed of the corrIInission's
desire to use some Park Dedication F`und monies
to speed up the development of Bederwood Park.
The response was that this Fund is to be held
for future park property acquisition and develop-
ment, probably when the population of the city
has grown considerably.
After' f�zrther discussion of the f�a.nding of park
development the following was resolved:
Motion by Kelley, second by �ger, as Follows:
Resolved: WHF.REAS the progress of improvements to
Bederwood Park has been very slow and: Y�iEREAS
these delays have been attributed to a shortage
of f�,inds :
THEREFORE: The Park Commission recorrnnends to
the City Coun cil that $8,000.00 be released f�om
the Park Dedication Fund for the completion of
grading, including grading of a tenn:i.s court
site, installation of playground equipment, and
construction of a baseball field. Weather per-
mitting this work should be accomplished this
fall.
Motion was unanimously passed.
Chairman Tomlinson reported that signs wi.11 be SIGNS
ordsred for other parks, similar to the one installed
in Antoine Park.
