.L'he Orono Park Commission met on the above date ATTENDANCE
with the foZlowing members present: Chairman
Tomlinson, Berglund, Kelley, Ergers, Watson and
Peter�son. Absent: Lathrop.
The minutes of the April 4th meeting were cor- NIINUTES APPROVED
rected to show the Dayton Property consisting
of approximately 5 acres, rather than 10. Min-
utes were approved as corrected.
The commissioners review the comments from the DAYTOPJ PROPERTY
city staff (Public Works and Police Departments)
re�ardin� the Dayton property. Definite plans
for the property are still uncertain dependi�g
on how the final agreemeni; between the city and
the donor will read. Funding of improvements to
the property should properly be disbursea from
the Park Dedication Fund, the commissioners
tnought.
Chairnian Tomlinson reported on progress of Park PARK PRO JECTS
projects;
1 . HACKBERRY
New benches �y ball diamond. Diamond
now filled with crushed rock. Tree
planting not yet begun and may have
to waii, until Fall for successful
transplanting.
2. AN`.L'OINE
Playground equipment in place.
3. BEDERWOOD
Preliminary gra�,�..� begun, addi-
tional fill coming slowly.
Bederwood Park was discussed at some length. Being BEDERWOOD PARK
as the park is going to be developed the commission
made the following recommendations:
1 . At least one and possibly two "Babe Ruth"
size ball diamonds be constructed.
2. Provisions be included in grading plan
for Tennia Courts, preferably near
Stubbs Bay Road.
3. A gradin� plan to be drawn by the City
Engineering firm.
l question from the commission regarding the maintenance
and use of the Hill School tennis court will be referred
to the city staff.

lThe meeting ended with a short discussion of the nee� and priority of
some summer recreation programs sponsored by this commission. Further
discussion wi.11 follow.
