Absent: Lathrop and E:ger. Also in attendance were I�Sayor Brad Van Nest and Council- woman Mary Butler. �ie minutes of the December 6th meeting were MIlIIJTES CORRECTED corrected to state that the monthly charge for recorimended street lighting will be �6.70 per month, per light, or �20 .10 per month total. The minutes were then approved. The city council has reappointed Roland Berg- PARK COl���IISSIONER: ROLAND lund to another term as Park Commissioner. B�GLUND One vacancy still exists on the commission. PROSPECTIVE I�IEI�iBER: Barbara Peterson, 2170 Minnetonka Avenue, BARBARA PET�RSON Crystal Bay, has been contacted regarding ser- vice on the commission. The board recommer_ded to the chairman that she be invited to our next meeting to get acquainted. P,eports on current pro jects: Per the corr�mis- �ion' s instructions, tne chairman has sent memos to the city staff on several subjects, specifically: - CURRENT PROJECTS: 1 . Prompt, continuali on-going projects � . PARK PRO JECTS in the spring. 2. Street lighting in tne vicinity of 2. STREET LIGHTING playgrounds. (To be investigated _ by city staff and recommended to 3. Bike/Hike Trail recommendations to Hennepin County Highway Department (Scheduled on council agenda for 1 /9/78 meetin,g. ) The council held a public hearing regarding SANDY BEACH PETITION, the Sandy Beach petition. Chairman Tomlinson HEARING restated at this hearing this commission' s recommendation that the beach not be closed. Except for the petitioners, the turnout for tne hearing was strongly in favor of retaining the beach; although better automobile, pet and children controls were urged. The council de- clined to accept the request of the petition. Discussions between the chairman, Tomlinson BEDERZa00 D PARK TITLE AND and Dick Benson indicated tnat the transfers CRh RY PROPERTIES of the Litle of the Bederi,�ood Park property and tne adjacent "creamery" property are now being processed by tne Ci�y Attorney. The Dayton property on Long Lake was discussed DAYTON PROPERTY at len�th. Appropriate development and poten- tial usage of this property were the main subjects. The commission will furtner con- sider the Dayton property during its study of all the beach properties in the City. The subject of Bike/"dike Trails was discussed P�. GREG COWARD: WIDENING with questions and inquiries from N'.�s�. Greg OF COUI�iTY ROAD 15 Coward, 1950 Heritage Drive, Z�Jayzata. He was concerned about the extensive widening of County Road 15 near his home, as proposed in tne application for federal matching funds 'or bike trails. He was assured that cnance of securing the funds was very slim and that the city would be involved in all phases of planning the proposed trails if they were built. The meeting was adjourned.
