HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-20-1977 Park Commission Minutes CITY OF ORONO r . �. � PARK COMMISSION Regular meeting of the Orono Park Commission held September 20, 1977 The Orono Park Commission met on the above date with the following members present: Ch.airman Tomlinson, Berglund, Lathrop and Watson. Members absent: Kelley. The minutes of the meeting of August 16, MINUTES APPROVED 1977 were accepted. A new member, Lee Erger, will be asked to NEW MEMBER: LEE ERGER attend the next meeting of the commission. Meetin� dates will be moved to the first CHANGE IN MEETING SCHEDULE Tuesday of each month. The next regular meetin� will be November 1 , 1 977. Mrs. Watson has been officially appointed OFFICIAL APPOINTMENTS: as a commission member by the City Council, WATSON AND TOMLINSON which has also officially appointed Mr. Tomlinson as chairman of the commission. Chairman Tomlinson noted the promotion by JOHN GERHARDSON, PUBLIC the city of John Gerhardson to the position WORKS SUPERVISOR of Public Works Coordinator. Mr. Gerhardson has recognized the need for a parks and ASSIGNMENT: PARKS & RECRE- recreation maintenance person, and he will ATION MAINTENANCE PERSON be assigning one of his staff to have this responsibility during the suiruner months as required. He also wan�ed all park commis- sioners to know that he is available for information, consultation or comments at any time. The recent, formal release of Block Grant BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, HUD Funds from H.U.D. was announced. The Park Commission moved to recommend that projects 1 . BEDERWOOD PARK scheduled for this portion of the Block Grant 2. BIKE/HIKE TRAIL Program proceed with all possible speed; namely, 1 } Grading and seeding of Bederwood Park. 2) Grading and p reparation for continuation of the Willow Drive Bike/Hike Trails to be paved in the Spring of 1978. Motion was passed. It was suggested that representatives of the INVITATION TO LONG LAKE City of Long Lake Council and Park Commission COUNCIL & PARK COMMISSION be invited to join our Park Commission for a discussion of possible development of the "Dayton Property" on Long Lake. Chairman Tomlinson will ask our City Staff to initiate an invitation.
