November 16 , 1976 The Orono Park Commission met on the above date with the following members present: Chairman Lathrop, Berglund, Hurr, Kallestad, and Peasley. The Orono Park Commission did not meet OCTOBER 18, 1976 October 18 , 1976. Two new members are needed to make the seven- PdEEDED APPOINTMENTS member board complete. Letters of appreciation for past service will be sent to all members by Walt Lathrop. Jerry Scidmore and Dave Fisher spoke to the HACKBERRY HILL PARK Commission concerning Hackberry Park. They are residents of the immediate area and wish to have a large dirt pile levelled or removed from the park. It is too steep to be a safe sliding hill and also too steep to be maintained by mowing. It seems to be unsafe and also does not fit the natural terrain. Lathrop moved, Berglund seconded, to regrade the hill because of safety and maintenance problems. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) . The Commission is interested in reviewing BLOCK GRANT FUND5 equipment to be purchased with Block Grant funds. A meeting was set for November 30 , 1976. John Gerhardson is to invite three distributors to make presentations at that time. John Gerhardson reported that rounded top BEDERWOOD PARK POSTS posts are to be installed at Bederwood Park this fall. They will be Highway Department seconds and are to be placed six feet apart, approximately three feet high. A gate will also be installed. The Commission needs to be making plans and 1977 BLOCK GR.ANT suggestions for our Block Grant for 1977. A discussion of our meeting date was held. Peasley moved, Kallestad seconded, to retain MEETIPdG DATE our present meeting date; the third Tuesday of each month. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) . ` �. +c`rE0N0 PARK COMMISSION i�IEETING HELD NOVEMBER 16 , 1976 Page 2 i Kallestad moved, Peasley seconded, to suggest DEER CROSSING SIGNS that the Council ask the State Highway Depart- ment to install deer crossing signs on Highway #12 , from the school west to the Highway #12 Market. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) . The Park Commission considered the Ivy Lane IVY LANE (Long Lake Fire Lane) use by the surrounding homeowners. Kallestad moved, Peasley seconded, to agree with the Planning Commission recomriendation to deny the continued use of this area. We recomrnend that no permanent structures be allowed and that use of the area be discouraged. It is difficult to maintain and to police. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) . Meeting adjourned at 9 :20 P.M.
