� � Regular Meeting of the Orono Park Commission, 7: 30 P.M.
September 21, 1976
The Orono Park Commission met on the above date
with the following members present: Chairman
Lathrop, Berglund, Hurr, and Peasley. Absent:
Kallestad, Leipold, and Oberhauser.
The Minutes from the last meeting were not MINUTES
available.
The Park Commission supports the Bike/Hike BRIDGE SIGN
Trails Committee's suggestion that two signs
be put up on the Burlington-Northern train
bridge at Willow Drive. The signs shall suggest
that bikes "Dismount and Walk Across the Bridge".
Long Lake should put up two on their side.
The Park Commission members present have visited BRUCE DAYTON OFFER
the proposed land to be donated to the Orono Park
Department by Bruce Dayton. Map attached.
Hurr moved, Berglund seconded, to thankfully
accept Mr. Dayton's gift to the City. Motion,
Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
The Park Commission suggests a public hearing BRUCE DAYTON PROPERTY
concerning the use of the property. Some items
to be considered at such a hearing would be as
follows:
l. Permit Only Parking
2. Stucly of future fencing of the site
3. Gate to parking area locked after 10: 00 P.M.
4. No boat launching or landing
5. Proposed cleanup schedule and trash cans
6. Possible swimming instruction on the site
7. Beach screen, house removal
8. Question of retaining the present house
structure (currently occupied) for a care-
taker at a reduced rent
A new attendance policy for members of the Park
Commission was discussed.
Lathrop moved, Berglund seconded, that two UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
consecutive unexcused absences without advance
notification to the Chairman involves an
automatic resignation by said member. P�otion,
Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .

�The petition for Ivy Lane was tabled for further IVY LANE PETITION
' study. Members should view the road location.
A question of legally vacating the road or
fire lane was brought up.
The Department of Natural Resources is interested SNOWMOBILE PARKING LOT
in our ideas for a . snowmobile parking lot for
the Luce Line Trail. It was suggested that they
consider County Road #19 ring route extension
when it is completed. Another suggestion was
for them to purchase Ski Tonka.
There will be a joint meeting with the Bike/I3ike JOINT MEETING
Trail Committee on October 7, 1976 at 7: 30 P.M. October 7, 1976
in the Council Chambers.
Suggestions for new Commission members should be NEW MEMBERS
brought to Chairman Lathrop.
Burglund moved, Hurr seconded, that the meeting ADJOURNMENT
be adjourned. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
