Regular lyieeting of the Orono Park Commissioa, 8:00 P.M.
May 20, 1975
The Orono Park Commission met on the above
date with the following members present:
Chairman Ophe�m, Hallowell, Kallestad,
and Peasley. Absenta Berglund, Kub$1sky,
Leipold, Oberhauser,Panuska, and Romain.
A�so present: Otto Christiansen of �#ennepin
County, Bill Wear and Bud Hasty of the Orono
Optimists.
There �tas a disCus�ion of tHe HackberL^y Hills HACKBERRY PARK PLAN
Park plan which is proposed to include hockey,
general skating, picnic area, sliding, two
baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and a general
play area. A preliminary blueprint was presented
for the consideration of the Park Commission
members and will be presented to the Council at
their next meeting.
Hallowell moved, Peasley seconded, that the Park MULTI-COMMUNITY TRAILS
Commission recommend to the Council that the COMMITTEE
chairman of the trails committee will automatically
becomP our representative to the Joint Trails
commission. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Mrs. Pat Dickey contacted the Park Commission LUCE LINE PARK PROPERTY
regarding 22 acres of woods adjoining the Luce
Line �aest of Willow Drive, that she would like
to offer for sale as a nature park. Chairman
Opheim would like all Park Commission members
view this property prior to the next meeting so
all can discuss this. (Contact Mrs. Dickey at
473-5105 for directions) .
Hallowell moved, Kallestad seconded, that the BIRE TRAILS
Park Commission recommend to the Council that
any fu.ture road or bridge development and/or
improvem�nt include provision for a bike trail

Berglund and Peasley attended the North Shore NORTH SHORE COMMUNITY
Community Council meeting and both plan t� attend COUNCIL
the next meeting. Peasley reported Wayzata will
be leaving the Council within the next year or
two and will be starting their own recreation
program leaving a gap in the Council swim programs.

meeting be adjourned at 10a00 P.M. Motion, Ayes (4) -
