Regular Meeting of the Park Commission, 8:25 P.M.
September 17, 1974
1he Park Commission met on the above date
with the following members presenta Burns,
Opheim, Panuska, and Wysocky. Absente Berglund,
Hallowell, Kubalsky, Leipold, Mastny, Oberhauser,
and Peasley.

1974, were approved as read.
A discussion was held regarding the questionnaire PARK DEVELOPP4ENT PLAN
Tom IIurns developed for the use of the Park
Commission. It was agreed that the broad over-
view of a plan for Orono parks would be the
first step in the development of a more
comprehensive plan. It was agreed that we
equate needs to long-term (10 years) financial
expectations. It was agreed that Opheim and
Burns would have a plan ready for the commission
to discuss at the November meeting.
Panuska moved, Burns seconded, that the Park SOCCER PROGRAM
Conunission authorize the use of the Piinnetonka
Art Center park field and/or Hackberry Park
by the Orono soccer program on the following
s�=1edules September 16-December 14, 1974,
inclusive, i�ionday through Thursday 5:30 P.T�T.-
7:30 P.iI. ; Saturday 10 a 00 A. P•�. -3:00 P.II, ,
��ith the understanding that the sponsors of the
program waive all liability of the Village and
the riinnetonka Art Center and that goalposts
at the i•Zinnetonka Art Center be removed when
not in use. F�otion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Opheim announced that George k�lastny resigned RESIGNATION
due to increased business pressures. His George £Zastny
resignation was accepted with regret.
Burns moved, 6�Jysocky seconded, that Brian PARK COPRNiISSION
Peterson be recommended to the Council as CANDIDATE
a member of the Park Commission to fill
cdastny°s unexpired term. Motion, Ayes (4) -
Nays (0) .
Subsequent to the raeeting, T�ir. Peterson asked ` VOLUNTEERS FOR PARK
� that his name be withdrawn from candidacy for COPit�ISSION
the Park Commission. He felt that his responsi-
bilities as this year°s president of a Snowmobile
club would demand his available time. He stated
he would survey his club for suitable volunteers
for the commission.

A brief discussion was held regarding the 1975 BUDGET
ilillage budget. Opheim will get more
information.
A ahort discussion was held regarding an area ICE ARENA
Ice Arena and the committee investigatinq
its feasibility.
Wysocky left the meeting at 9:30 P.M.
Representatives of the Long Lake Drift SNOWt�10BILE TRAILS
Skippers Snowmobile Club presented their
concept for snowmobile trails in the Village,
with �:he re�,uest that we consider asking the
Coun�•:�l t�o act as the sponsor of such trails
in cY��eY to ae eligible for the DNR grant in
aid p=ogx�urn,
�^le advisec3 the representatives that although
we concurr.ed in the desirability of such
trail�, v�e would need more details regarding
the plans, ���.rticularly the economics, before
we could approach the Council. They agreed
to retL�rn to the next meeting with a more specific
�roposal,
