April 25, 1973 The Park Commission met on t1�e above date with the follo�aing members present: Chairman Ogland, Berglund, Jarl, ��Iastny, �liller, Stanke, and lVysocky. Hallo�,rell late. Also present: llick Benson. The ��Iinutes were read and approved. MINUTES Leipold moved, Wysocky seconded, that DANIELS PARK speci� ications be drawn and bids called for N�varre tlie Daniles Park at ilavarre along tlie same design as t}ie one presented to the Par�; Commission. Copies will be given by Ogland to the Cou�icil. i.Iotion, Ayes (7) - Nays (0) . Discussion was lield on number and location. Jarl moved, i�1i11er �seconcled, that signs be made with the Orono shield attached and put ou appropriately. P�totion, Ayes (7 - Nays (0) . Jim Gilbert and Dick Benson will get together HIGHt��00D PATI-IS to complete the paths at Hi�nwood. The new marker buoys for the swimming areas SIVIi���tING AREA BUOYS have arrived and cost $1,100-$1, 200. Docl:s will be in next week, iJo improvement on tlie Hackberry �Iill sewage HACICBERRY HILL problem. A seven-�nan committee cnaired by Frank HORSE ORDINA.JCE C;iild will laork on the new horse ordinance. T;ie Commission commended Ogland on his L�TTER letter to i.;ie Council and Plaiining Commission. Ogland appointed a committee of three, LAND ACQUISITION Niller, Stanke, and Panusica to investigate t;ie area in the north part of Orono for possible parks acquisition. A letter was read from Hennepin County Park NOERENBERG PROPERTY Reserve on the Noerenberg property (Hoppe estate) stating that according to the will it did not seem possible to have a swimming beach thers. Tlie June meeting will be held t�ednesday, ORONO BUS TOUR June 20, 1973, when a bus tour of Orono will be conducted. Invitations to tlie Planning Commission and Council will be extended. The purpose ►�rill be to observe preseiit park lands and possible areas of need. Tiie tour will finish at the golf course. Jarl will see about a bus . �gastny moved, i��iiller seconded, that four PICNIC TABLES picnic tables and trasli barrels be purchased. Two tables are to go to Highw�od arid two tables are to go to Casco Point. A�otion, Ayes (8) - Nays (0) . A discussion was held on tiie feasibility of NEiVSLE'PTER sending out a ne�vsletter to the Village residents on the progress and Plans of the Park Commission. !Ve should try to get it out this summer. A reciation was expressed to Jim 0gland for APPRECIATION t�i� guidance he has given the Park Commission Jim Ogland iahile serving as its chairman. Tlie meeting adjourned at 9: 30 P.'�.
