The Park Commission met on tlie ahove date

maii Ogland, Berglund, Hallowell , ilastny,
Opheim, Panusl:a, Stanke, and 4Yysocky.
Ausent: Jarl, Leipold, and ililler. Also

equipment and submit tiieir suggestions to tiie
Pari: Conunission. Recommendations from tlie

in making tlie paths this winter. T�ie iiortheast

It is iiot,r possible to make a U-shaped entrance.
Oplieim reported oii a complaint from ��lerlin HIGHtV00D FIRE LANE
Halverson who lives on IIighwood Raacl, concerning
snowmobiles going tlirougli tlie fire lane next to
liis liouse, Opiieim reported this as a narrow�
possibly 1� ' lane close to t�vo liouses. It was
recommended tiiat Halverson documeiit ilis problem and
contact neighbors for their feelings .

tiYysocky reported on another snowmobile SNOWi�,-10BILE PROI3LEM
problem on the Sandy Beach access where they Sandy Beach
are going down Sandy Beach. T4rs . Purvey would
like the police to catch these prople late at
night. They were asked to document the problem.
A discussion was lleld, lVe are constantly LAKE ACCESS PROBLE1�iS
running into lake access type problems and
need to address ourselves to �he total problem.
It was noted that we do ]Zave an ordinance
restricting use of lake access after 11 ; 00 P.I�R.
iVe need the iielp of tIie police to enforce
this ordinance.
Panuska pointed out that the Orono Trail Committee ORONO TRAIL CO��I�4ITTEE
is trying to identify trails throughout the
Village, It was suggested �oe consicler marl;ing
trails for snowmobiles .
Pansuka reported that tiie Luce Line will LUCE LINE TRAIL
definitely be a trail . There is a bill pending
in t�ie State Legislature. Nort;iern States Power
Compaiiy is, ho�aever, presently buying land on
the Luce Line from iVayzata to l�Jaterto�an for tile
rig;it to protect tiieir present poi,�er lines
oii the trail and as a possible site for futare
po�,rer lines . They are not fighting tlie trails
and are willing to cvork tvitli the trail people.
T�iere is notliing in tlie planning stage now for
power lines , it will probably be IO years
before poles are put in; however, pol,►er lines
do place some restriction on vegetation.
A discussion follotaed. The only way to stop CONllEI�INATION
iVortliern States Power Company from buying the
land is to conclem it for parks . This lias a
possibility of costing tlie Village from
$50,000 up.
The Part: Commission stands on its former
recommendation to the Council to condem the
Luce Line.
Paiiusl:a presented an alternate plaii for idorthern
States Power Company to use a iiorth corridor
for its powerline.
lVysoci:y moved, ;lastny seconded, that the Park COP�iPREHENSIVB PLAN
Commissioii recommend to Brauer �, Associates that Brauer F� Associates
a pole corridor be incorporated as a part of the
compreiiensive plan to go approximately from ►aliere
tiie Luce Line enters Orono, past Lydiard Lake to
Sixth Aveiiue North and uP to i,�orris 13al:er Park.

A letter was read from Jim Cosby recommending COiM`dUNICATIONS
that a member of tlie Park Commission be
present at Council meetings to answer questions .
Panuska moved, Wysocky seconded, tliat the
cliairman or an alternate attend the first
Council meeting following the Park Commission
meeting. P�otion, Ayes (8) - Nays (0) .
Oberhauser stated that the Park Commission
matters would be early on tIie agenda,
Oberhauser explained the present proposal IllS PROPOSAL
from IllS, which is to concentrate residential
and commercial building on the soutiiivest
corner of County Roads #15 �, #19 and dedicating
tlie east szde of #19 and soutii of #15 to the
Village.
TIie Council wants t,ie Park Commission to look
at this land and see if it would be a desirable
acquisition and to recommend possible uses of
the land.
A discussion was held. It was agreed that
we would persona2ly go out and look over Lhe
lancl, also, perhaps seeking professional
advice. lVe would also like an estimated tax
value and cost of assessments on the land.
