A1ay 18, 1971 Tlie Park Commission met on the above date with the folloti�ing members present: Chair- man Ogland, Dorrel , Jarl , Jones , Panuska, iU.ii+a , and Wysocky. Aiso present: Village Ac�ministrator i�fartin and Councilman '�IcCarthy. Absent: Fahlin, Leipold, Smith, and Stanke. The P�4inutes of the hiarch meeting were ��1INUTES read and approved. Discussion of the April joint meeting �vas JOINT "�TEETING held. Tl�e suggestions were made to hold r�ore such meetin�s but with the ?•�ayor chairing them with an agenda printed, and witil our objectives �lefined. The tour of �1ay R was disctissec�. Ogland's TOt1R OF I�4AY 8, 1971 slides will be augmented by aerial piioto- �raplis of dock sites . Reports on present and future park lan�s REPORTS rere given: Hackberry playground has been seeded. Tlie money to purc}iase the Kutz property (�5,000 for down payment) and the land adjoining Hackberry Playground ($2 , 500) nas been acquisitioned. A motion to purchase 120 ' of Crepeau Type i•i0TI0N Dock, placed 40' at each of the following; �armans Bay, Casco Point, and Sandy Beach, and to allocate �300 for a bacic�Lop at Hacicberry Park was made by Panuska and seconded by Dorrel. TIZe motion was ��ith- drawn, since most of the docl:s are already in. ��tcCarthy suggested we be sure to snend our FINANCES allocation for this year. ATartin said that money from other funds can be allocated for tlie purciiase of docks for the 1972 season, Barrels for swimming beaches cost �600 and grass seedin� for Hackberry iaas �300. This ras not charged to land acquisition costs . 'ark oPerational costs not included or deducted from the 1 mill park assessment. Ogland read our existing bi�d�et of allocation items amounting to �2,650 cvhich are not involved in the �9,000 obtained by tlie one mill assessment, ., �1�i�UTES OF A R�GULAR i�IEETING HELD TfAY 18 , 1971 Page 2 A letter by Piayor Oberhauser to t12e Chicago LETTERS TO RAILROAD i; Nortjiwestern Railroad was read, alon� with . a reply from the �iinneapolis office saying that his letter had been forwarded to the Chicago office. Dr. Panuska ivill be inchar�e of this park item. Bob Dorrel �vill be incharge of folio�aing up ASSIGNR4ENTS on Hackberry playground; Edith Jones incliarge of recommendations for the Kutz property ; and t�Jalter Jarl will check on the cost and clesign of a backstop. The ��linnesota Art Center is planning to `10TION purchase the Old HiZl School , and have offered it to the Village for $1. 00 a year lease. Tir. Jarl made the follotiving motion , �vhich �aas passed: tUe recommend to the Council that they enter into negotiations with the Pfinne- tonka Art Center for the acquirement of ti�e Old t-Iill School and adjoining property, wliich is approximately 4'-2 acres , to be used for Village anc� park purposes . ?Zr. 1Uhite is to monitor this motion. The Casco Point park was discussed. A CASCO POINT petition signed by residents of the area ��as reread and a contour map studied. Ji�n Ogland and Edith Jones will �vork on a design for its development. i1r. Jarl moved that �ve recommend the rec{i�est REST POINT ROAD for vacation of the Rest Point Road lake Street Vlcation access be denied. The motion tvas seconded by Dorrel and passed unanimously. Edith Jones is to look into property ownect. CASCO POINT by a ?�ir. Keller on Casco Point.
