Regulax Meeting of the Park Commission, 8 :00 P.M.
November 19 , 1969
The Park Commission met on the above date
with the following members present : Chair-
man Dorrel , Larsan , Smith, and White.
Also present : Mayor Ross , Mayor-Elect
Oberhauser, Dick Benson, and Roland
Berglund. Absent : Fahlin, Jarl , Otto,
and Panuska.
After thorough discussion and a review of SNOWMOBILES
last year' s operation, it was decided to
recommend to the Council that the Orono
Golf Course be closed to sno�amobiles for
the 1969-1970 winter.
Skating rinks should be placed in the SKATING RINKS
customary areas and i£ the need is evident,
additional sites will be considered.
The Chairman appointed members Larson and HACKBERRY PARK
White to investigate equipment needed for
fiackberry Park,
The Park Commission feels that the lake- BEAUTIFICATION
shore area between Paul 's Landing and
Brackett' s Point is unsightly and recommends
that the Council investigate the possibility
of cleaning up some of the unsightly
pilings , etc.
It was recommended that the Council FUTURE PARK SITES
investigate �he acquisition of land in
the Hill School area when this is offered
by the Orono School Board,
