HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-24-2014 Council Work Session Minutes MINUTES OF THE ORONO CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION Monday, February 24,2014 5:00 p.m. Present: Mayor Lili McMillan, Council Members Lizz Levang and Aaron Printup; representing Staff were City Administrator Jessica Loftus,Assistant City Administrator Mike Gaffron, Police Chief Correy Farniok, Public Works Director/City EngineerJesse Struve, and Finance Director Ron Olson. Steve Kleineman from SKD Architects and Mark Kotten from Kraus-Anderson presented information on the police garage and addition project. Discussion ensued regarding the site plan and cost options. The consensus of the Council was to hold another work session on March 10th to further discuss the project. Finance Director Ron Olson presented information on CIP Funding and bonding. Councilmember's discussed projects from the CIP in 2014 to 2016. The Council directed staff to bring back more information to the March work session on bonding for Option 1 without road funding. Assistant City Administrator Mike Gaffron presented an offer to sell the Hawkinson Property adjacent to Saga Hill Park. The consensus of the Council was there are currently other priorities for our limited park funding and we regretfully decline, but everyone expressed appreciation that he thought of the City before listing it. Councilmember's reviewed the list of interested residents to serve on a Park Commission. Given the time constraints of the meeting, the City Council requested the assessment policy and road funding item be placed on the agenda for the March work session.
