HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-28-2013 Council Work Session Minutes � MINUTES OF THE ORONO CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION Monday, May 28, 2013 5:00 p.m. Present: Mayor Lili McMillan, Council Members Kristi Anderson, Cynthia Bremer, Lizz Levang and Aaron Printup; representing Staff were City Administrator Jessica Loftus, Assistant City Administrator Mike Gaffron, Planning/Zoning Coordinator Melanie Curtis, Finance Director Ron Olson, and Public Works Director/City Engineer Jesse Struve. The City Council received an update from the planning department regarding zoning inquiries they have received. The discussion centered on how staff and Council should respond to requests and how to best provide background information. The City Council also discussed a preplan or sketch plan process for general preliminary review that would not prejudge applications. The City Council requested a possible script to respond to resident/applicant inquiries. The City Council requested staff share any patterns or areas of interest they are hearing about from residents. Jim Grube, Director of the Hennepin County Transportation Department, presented the latest information regarding the CSAH 112 turnback project including recommendations from the Project Advisory Committee. Mr. Grube reviewed the project segments and modifications since the open house. He also reviewed potential speed zone changes and cost estimates. The City Council discussed elements of the plan and requested the trail be removed from Segment 1 and the full utility burial for$609,000 in Segment 2 is removed. Mr. Grube explained another open house would be hosted in July to collect citizen input on the concept plans. Mayor McMillan noted that a letter from the City of Wayzata was received to ask for support of a scenic byway designation on select county roads around Lake Minnetonka. There were no comments regarding Information Update items.
