MINUTES............. /� f' fr ,° ' ,:�r /-'-�'-���r�'--'��,�G��,� � _:.€.�t ,•� � '1'he Re�ular Monthly Meeting of the Orono Park Commission was held A�ril 14, 1965, at the Lafayette Club. Members �resent were Chairman Panuska, Messrs, Dongoske, Otto and Dorrel Minutes of the March meeting wBse read and approved. Mr. Dongoske presented correspondence to the Hennepin County Highway Department regarding the Beach area at County Roads 15 and 51. Correspondence from the Boy Scout Viking Conncil regarding the Tonkawa property was also noted. lt was reported that the Swimming program of the North Shore Communi$y Council for t.he Orono area begins June 1l� and is over August 7th. Mot�ion made and seconded that the Park Commission recommend to the Village Council that a bill from the North Shore Community Council in j the amount of �250.00 be honored, representing services rendered for the 19h5 8eason. Mr. Goslin, as eoach of the Orono Hockey Pro�ram, kindly gave the Com�i.ssion his redommendations for the Hockey Program as re�ard the Orono Village ' and the Orono School District. In order to encourage Hockey in the area, se�7era1 nei�hborhood rinks would be the most practical means. Each, however, should have a warating house adjacent. Mr. Mixa commented on the theory of using marginal land areas for park purposes. � '1'he 'i'onka"area situation was discussed and after thoroughly �oing into the matt�r, it uras a�reed to ask the Village Council to offer a token bi d of �$.00 for the property in line with the request for bids by the Viking Council. Mr. George Johnson advised that a preliminary investigation did not indicate any difficulty involved in securing the Nurenberg property as a park area. The chairman asked that this be pursued further b� Mr. Johnson. Mrs. Knievel and interested members of the West Orono f�rea were present to discuss park areas for the Cmmmunity. Motion made and seconded that this group be appointed as a sub-committee for the purpose of investigating actual areas which might be available for park purposes.
