Scope Of work: The work includes construction of a new, concrete swimming pool as shown on the drawings prepared by James Robin, Landscape Architect, dated 2 September, 1993. The pool shall include all work described below and all work reasonably implied The pool does not include coping, pool deck, walls, or service connections. B.. Standards: All work shall meet or exceed industry and State of Minnesota Commercial Pool Standards, applicable codes and all governing regulations. All workers shall be fully experienced or under the direct supervision of a foreman experienced in the construction of concrete pools. C. Materials: All materials shall be new, in first class condition. D. Permits and taxes: The cost for all permits and taxes is included in the project price. E. Insurance: Prior to the start of work the Contractor shall furnish a Certificate of Insurance showing limits and dates of coverage for Contractors General Liability, Works in Progress, Workers Compensation and Vehicle Insurance. F. Shop Drawings: Prior to the start of any work, submit for approval, a shop drawing on a reproducible mylar showing the pool layout with all dimensions and elevations, sections of the pool shell and wall, locations and specifications of all equipment and piping. G. Design Criteria 1 . The pool water re-circulation system shall be capable of fully recirculating the entire volume of water, estimated to be 31,000 gallons, once every 2.5 hours. 2. The flow of water into the pool shall be evenly distributed. 3. The entire pool and all equipment shall be drainable by gravity or pumped discharge with the pool recirculating pump and compressed air. H. Warranty: This contractor shall warrant that for a period of one year following acceptance of the pool and equipment, all defective or dysfunctional work will be immediately replaced or repaired to new condition following notice by the owner, at no cost to the owner. I. Coordination: This contractor shall coordinate access to the site on the approved routes, parking of vehicles, storage of equipment and materials and the construction of the pool with the work of others on the home reconstruction project. J. Protection of existing conditions: This contractor shall protect existing trees and constructions designated to remain and shall promptly replace or repair any damage. K. Observation by Landscape Architect: Observation of the work by the Landscape Architect does not imply approval of the conditions nor relieve the Contractor of any responsibilities or obligations for the quality of the work. HENDERSON RESIDENCE PAGE 2 OF 2 30 AUGUST 93 DIVISION 2: SWIMMING POOL CONSTRUCTION A. General 1. No heavy traffic will be allowed on the paver driveway. All trucks and equipment will access the site on the construction road through the woods.or will remain on the street. 2. Domestic water and electricity are available at the site B. Excavation: 1 . The existing walls, vegetation and paving will be removed by others. 2. Soils are assumed to be upland soils of load bearing quality. 3. The pool area will be brought to 8" below finish deck elevation by others. 4. The pool contractor shall excavate the hole for the pool. Excavated soils from the pool shall be disposed on-site to the area immediately east at the direction of the Landscape Architect..Pool excavation shall be performed by thoroughly trained and experienced personnel. 6. Compact all fill. C. Concrete Pool Shell 1. General: Provide a monolithic, formed, reinforced concrete swimming pool shell conforming to the shape shown on the site plan, 31,000 gallon capacity, which includes recesses for fittings and light and stairs and bench. The top of the shell shall be absolutely level. 2. Depth: Depth shall be 9'-0" at the deep end and 3'-3" at the shallow end 3. Thickness: The minimum wall thickness shall be 8"; the floor shall be 6". 4. Concrete: Concrete materials shall be made with Portland cement, sand, aggregate and required water, shall meet 4,000 psi 28 day required strength and shall contain 5% -7% air entrainment. 5. Reinforcing steel: All reinforcing steel shall be new, clean reinforcing bars as shown on the shop drawing, minimum #4 bars, spaced 12" o.c. both ways except 6" o.c. where the wall meets the floor, all steel tied properly and extended for electrical bonding. 6. Plumbing: Prior to concrete installation all embedded plumbing and appurtenances shall be in place. 7. Observation by Landscape Architect: A minimum of 12 hours prior to concrete installation, the prepared pool area shall be observed by the Landscape Architect. B. Pool Finishes 1. Water line tile: 6" high, frost proof, selected by owner, allow $7.00 per square foot, retail for materials; installation of tile included in pool bid. 2. Accent the at edge of steps and seat, 1-1/2" to 2" high, frost proof, selected by owner, allow $7.00 per square foot, retail for materials; installation of tile repaired in pool bid. 3.
