Request for ReConing
The Commission considered the request of Mr.Leslie Myers for
rezoning (from residential to commercial) a 300 K 300 ft. area
north og TT.S.12 and west of Brown's Road. It wao decided to invite
representatives of the Long Lake Council and Planning Uommission,
as viell as Mr,, Myors,to be present and.view the 6Jte at 10:00 A.M.'
SatzrdaygNovember 17th,D.J.Russell and S.M.Halperin to represent
the Orono Planning Commission. ._
Study of Navarre
Mr. Hawks discussed aspects of Orono problems in general,
touching on the commercial areas of Navarre.Maxwell and Brown's
Bays,but recommended taking up a concentrated study of each area
in-turn,starting with Navarre since the problems of that area seem
most serious. Among the suggestions presented by Mr Hawks were:
1. A Large -scale "land use" map.
2. Orientation of Orono to the Navarre area.
3. Prepare a supportable story to present to the Navarre
businessmen showing them,in round figures,the possibilities
for correct future developments.
4•. Navarre organization to work with the Planning Commission,,
Mr. Hawks explained the nature of his firm's survey services.
He was requested by the Commission to submit a letter setting forth
the proposed program for Navarre and estimating the cost of his
Services.
