HELD AT THE VILLAGE HALL
AUGUST 309 1962
The meeting was called to order by Chairman D. J.
Russell at 7x30 P.Mc with the following members present:

BROWN °S BAY
In Fa discussion of the Brown's bay commercial area
it was recommended that no further permits for commercial,
devel.opr.ert or sale of 3.2 beer be approved until the
Parkin6 situation has been improved.
'one question of the need for professional counsel on
a sti:dy of this area was discussed and it was agreed that
the results of the study made by Mr. James Hawks should be
utilized and.if need beghis further services employed. It
war further decided that members of the Commission be
present at the meeting of the West Hennepin Planning Com=
scission on Sept.27,1962 at the Elem.Schoo190rono,at which
time questions might be directed to Mr. Hawks from the
floor. .
' NEXT REGULAR MEETING
Since the next regular meeting of 'the Planning Com-
mission on Sept.2791962 coincides with that of the West
Hennepin body,it was agreed to meet at the Orono Elem-
entary School at 7:00 P.M. and the Secretary was instruct-
ed to make the necessary arrangements.
MAXWELL BAY
The matter of the study of the commercial area of
Maxwell Bay was discussed. Village Clerk,D.J.Boll intro-
duced the petition of residents of the eastern portion of
this area requesting rezoning to residential use.
Also called to the attention of the Commission was the
plan presented to the Council by Mr.L.Hork for two 17 unit
apartment buildings in the above area. The sanitation prom
blemsgin particular, were open to question.
ZONING CODE AMENDMENT
The matter of the need for amending the zoning code of
the Village of Orono was presented by D.J.Boll who pointed
out recommended changes and illustrated by excerpts from
the zoning code of the Village of Golden Valley.Particularly
under discussion were the subjects of district zoning,off—
street parking and the need for code definitions.

There being no further busin:ess,the meeting was adjourn-
ed at 11000 P.M.
