CALL TO ORDER by Chairman D. J. Russell. Members present were: William A. Curry, R. P. Dongoski and W. H. Mills, Jr. Absent: H. S. Rice The Chair announced that this'was the time and place for a Public Hearing regarding a Special Use Permit for Ski, Tonka. The subsequent hearing revealed some op- position from two or three owners of ad- jacent property. It also revealed strong support from several Orono citizens in- terested in skiing and those who pointed out the need for winter recreational facilities in Orono, including a repre- sentative of the Orono Park Commission. The Planning Commission concurs in the opinion that a recreational skiing facility would be desirable in Orono and it appears that this particular piece of property is the only one in Orono suitable for such a- development. It was moved by Curry, seconded by Mills, that the Planning Commission recommend that the Special. Use Permit-be granted subject to the following restrictions: 1. In the opinion of the Village Engineer and Inspector adequate sewage facilities' are provided. 2. That Mr. Primus present an. accurate scale drawing showing property he owns and location of existing and proposed facilities including a chalet, toms, parking area and access road. It'is also suggested that aerial photos be made. 3. That hours of operation be restricted to the period from down to midnight with actual skiing stopped not later than 11:00 P.M. 4. That it be clearly understood in advance than the serving of beer or alcoholic beverages on this property will not be permitted. The motion passed unanimously.
