HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-17-1963 Planning Commission Meetingf f MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION, VILLAGE; OF ORONO HELD AT THE VILLAGE HALL, JUNE 179 1963 The meeting was called to order at 7:40 P.M. by Chairman D.J.Russell. Present were: Wei.A.Curry,H.M.Boldon, H. S. Rice, D.S. Cleveland tR.C.Bagley9D.J.Bo3.1,K.Turnham & S.B.Belt,Sce. Absent: R.L.SearlesgW.W.Y'tolfe and ,`im.T.Mills. Howard C. Berge Subdivision (Keferer_ce:1{1nutes of 5 ®20 -63) Consisting of six building sites,•two of which have buildings .,K 9A existing thereon and four of which are submitted for approval ' of building permits. The recommendation of the site examining committee was for approval of the latter four sites as requested.Curry so moved, Cleveland seconding. After a discussion of alternate plans for access road the motion passed. George C. Levering; Subdivision (Ref. minutes of 5- 20-63) v The site examining committee recommmended approval of the pre- � ry liminary plan submitted by Mr. Levering. It was moved by Cleveland that the report be accepted as the recommendation of the Commission. The motion was seconded by Rice and carried. George Osha requested the Commission's opinion on the possi- bility oflding permit on Lots 1 and 2,Block 89 Summit Park Addn.,each lot 50 X 100 ft. It was the concensus that the re- quest was promaturevpending either 'the acquisition of lots 16 and 17 adjoining,or the installation of 'the municipal sanitary sewer system. Leighton Lir_dlan9Mound div.of the :Eberhardt company and �(0• representing R,.A.Johnson in the subdivision of the Una Johnson property on Casco Poin submitted new preliminary plans and asked recommendations on four items namely: 1. Transfer of Lot D to owner of adjoining property. 2. Approval of building permits on Lots AB and C. 3. Approval of continuance of the guest cottage on Lot A for summer (only) occupancy. 4. Vacation of remnants of an alley. Lot A contains 419122 sq.ft.,Lot B is 44,034 sq.ft. and Lot C is 32,799 after lines were squared off and a -triangular piece (Lot D) subtracted from Lot C for transfer. After lengthy discussion of the mulitple dwelling problem presented by the guest house on Lot Ag Turnham moved the appro- val of items 1,2 and 4,Rice seconded the motion and it carried. The approved preliminary plat is marked "June 17,1963" and is signed by Mr. Lind'lan. .The 'request of Keith Hoyrell (not present) for approval of a subdivision as descr_3a�ed in__% e minutes of May 20,1963 was presented by Turnham and reported on-by the site examining -� committee. In view of the possible widening of Co.Hw.y.6 the problem of Bet —back was discussed. It was moved by Russell that the preliminary plans be approved, with the suggestion that set -back on Dots 192 and 3 be at least as much as existing house,and on Lots 5,6,7 and 8 by at least 100 ft. In view of the possible widening of Orono #87 as an access road to new U.S.12, lots fronting on this road may require adjustments to provide for condemnation of portions of them. It was suggested that Prir.Cox attend a Commission meeting to discuss proper development of his property located east of Orono 87 and south of County #6. It was proposed by Curry,and was the concensus of the Commission,that more members volunteer for inspection of sites and that other days,as well as Saturdays, be utilized,especially during the summer months. 0. This led to a lengthy dis- cussion of dock problems in general in the Village. D. J. Boll reported on the status of the Navarre studyt and explained illustrations exhibited in the VUTage Ha 1. It was apparent that the study had now reached the "Development Plan" stage whereat it was essential that the Planning Commis- sion recommend adjustments to Village Ordinances required to implement the plan. Boldon moved the acceptance of the plan as illustrated on the CBD sketch as a guide for the future development of Navarre. Curry seconded the motion and it was carried. Chairman Russell fixed the date of TuesdaymJuly 9,1963 at 7 :30 P.M. for a special "one item agenda" meeting of the Commis- sion to consider changes in zoning Ordinances. It was urged that all members of the Commission be present for this important meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 10 :30 P.M. S. B. Belt,Sec.
