HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-20-1964 Planning Commission MeetingMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION VILLAGE OF ORONO HELD APRIL k.1964 The meeting was called to order by Chairman D. J. Russell at, 7,45 P.M. The following members were present: H. S. Riceq W. W. Yto1f e, Wm. A. Curry and A. K. Simonson. Absent: D. Sid. Judkinss and D.S.Cleveland'.memb ers'. and ezmoff icio members; D. J. Boll'. Wm.T.Mills'.K.Turnham and R.L.Searles due to a special meeting of the Village Council at this time. BUILDING PERMIT- G.& S.Cabinet shop: r . eyen presen a pans for -a' block construction building 30 X BO feet on Lot 139B1ock 78Navarre Heights to house a cabinet shopeoff ice and display room. The Commission discussed the subjects of noise'.dust control, and other aspects of the proposal including grading of the site (Village to get the dirt). Curry moved to recommend approval of the request. The motion was seconded by Rice and carried. SUBDIVISION: Frieda Schall After a lengthy discussion of the legal opinion given by Village Attorney Newhall re Lot 3'.Block 2 and Lot 2� Block 4r, Crystal Bay Park and reports by members present all of whom have viewed the property, it was the consensus that the sub= division9while not Ideal might be better than leaving a 50 foot lot.in view of the fact that this is a transition area from larger lots to the east to small lots to the crest and the fa6b that while only 74 and 76 feet wide the lots each contain approximately 42 000 sq. feet. Rice moved recommending that Council approve the request. The motion was seconded. by Curry and passed. ZONING STUDY The Chair submitted alternate plans for final coding of the proposed Zoning Ordinances. After some discussion, it was decided to adopt the plan that would conform to the indexing used in the Orono Municipal Code'.repeal and replace Chapters 30,31'.32'.33'.34 and 36. 150 and add a new Chapter (35). A rough outline of the Chapters and categories to appear under each was submitted to the secretary for duplication and distribu- tion to the members for their information. A committee made up of Y% W.Wolfe and A.K.Simonson was assigned the project of "Multiple Dwellingef. This committee and one dealing with "Commercial- Industrial" problems will report at a special meeting to be head Monday'.May 11th. Wm.A.Curry brought up the subject of high -rise multiple dwellings (Apartments) and It was discussed. There being no further businese'.the meeting was adjourned. S. B. BeltDsecgy.
