REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING Cl1MMIS ION
VILLAGE OF ORONO FEBRUARY 15, 1965
Chairman D. J. Russell called the meeting to order CALL TO ORDER
at 7:50 P.M. The following regular members were
present: D. V. Judkins, rim. A. Curry, II. S. Rice
and A. K. Simonson; absent: W. W. Wolfe and
D. S. Cleveland. Ex- officio member present:
K. Turnham.
Mr. J. L. Braff was present requesting recommenda- SUBDIVISION
tions on the division of Lots 15, 21, and the J. L. BRAFF
S.W o half of Lot 20, Shore Hills. -The chair read
a petition carrying the signatures of eight
property owners in the immediate area opposing
the proposed subdivision. The chair also read
two letters dated January 21 and 22, 1965'from
Iierbert P. Lefler, attorney representing .ter. Braff.
After considerable discussion A. K. Simonson moved
to recommend that the Village Council obtain a
legal opinion on how binding deed restrictions are
on the Village, and to check the legal aspects of
a previous subdivision of the Jacobs property in
the same area, between Lafayette Road and the
channel, as it bears on the matter in hand.
Wm. A. Curry seconded the motion and it passed -by
a majority, with D. W. Judkins abstaining.
W. S. Kelley, Jr. was present with a plan for the SUBDIVISION
subdivision of the Ruth Herrick property located W; S. KELLEY, JR.
in the S. E. quadrant of the intersection of the ]RUTH HERRICK

R. R. The proposed plan divides the six acres
into six sites ranging from 37,350 sqo ft. to
409780. The danger of setting a precedent in
establishing less than one acre lots in this

the motion and it was passed by a majority with
D. W. Judkins voting nay,

pointed out that the steep grade of this portion
of 'ri ebb Street made it unusable. H. Sa Rice' moved
to recommend vacation. D. W. Judkins seconded the
motion grid it carried;
