A RESOLUTION TO RECITE THE PLEGE OF ALLEGIANCE AT ALL ORONO
PUBLIC MEETINGS
WHEREAS, many generations since the formation of this Nation, including Orono,
have lived,worked, and died to provide and protect the privileges of liberty and justice we value;
and
WHEREAS,the Orono City Council is the legislative body that governs its City and
represents the people of Orono at the closest level and respects those principles of liberty and
justice for all in its deliberations; and
WHEREAS,the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America is a
statement of respect for the values of liberty and justice for all that was written expressly for use
at public meetings; and
WHEREAS,the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America is an
appropriate expression of patriotism that cuts across political lines and unifies us in our goals and
purposes;
THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED:
That the City Council of Orono, Minnesota hereby supports and endorses the recitation of
the Pledge of Allegiance at all Orono Public Meetings.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono this 8'day of July, 2019.
