Dear Dr. Nelson:
It has come to the attention of this department that demolition debris from recent construction
on your property was dumped on a hillside. The hillside is on an adjacent parcel occupied by
the caretaker's house. This letter is to notify you that City ordinances require permits for filling
and that the City has an ordinance that prohibits the use of anything but clean fill.
Therefore, I must inform you that the debris must be removed from the property. The concrete
chunks can be recycled but any other debris must be taken to a licensed landfill. The City can
issue a grading permit to allow up to 100 cubic yards of clean fill; more than 100 cubic yards
of fill requires a conditional use permit from the Orono City Council. A deadline of June 1,
1995 has been established. If you have any questions or if you have a problem meeting this
