Dear Dwight & Patricia:
As part of the building permit application for your new home, the City of Orono required a certificate
of survey showing your property lines, house location, elevations, driveway location, and a list of other
details. We later discovered that the survey may not have included all of your property.
We expect that a surveyor will "exercise reasonable care in doing record research" as called for in the
surveyor's manual "Recommended Procedures for the Practice of Land Surveying". In this case a
simple phone call to the Hennepin County Office of Property Description would have provided the
following Abstract Legal Description:
Lots 6-10 inclusive including adjoining 1/2 of vacated street, Block 2, Bergquist and Wicklund's
Park, Hennepin County, MN.
The survey included in your permit application does not match this description. We therefore have
requested that Sathre-Bergquist prcvide us with a corrected "boundary survey" that shows the entire
parcel. Mr. Bergquist has refused to do this without being paid again. The City is left in the
uncomfortable position of requiring you to supply an accurate survey of your property at 4765
Tonkaview Lane.
