HomeMy WebLinkAboutRe: address change-1989 CITY of ORONO • Post Office Box 66•Crystal Bay,Minnesota 55323•Municipal Offices • • •` On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka February 6 , 1989 Tonkaview Lane/North Shore Drive Property Owners Re: Address Assignments Dear Property Owner: The Building Inspection and Police Departments have expressed a concern that addresses assigned to certain properties in the Tonkaview/North Shore Drive area do not reflect the actual access location for those residences. This could potentially result in emergency vehicles responding to an incorrect location, and as we all know, in an emergency seconds count. The critical area of concern is the private driveway access between 4735 and 4755 Tonkaview Lane. This private driveway, while being within a public right-of-way, is privately maintained and serves 4 residences as the only means of vehicular access. There is a potential for at least 1 additional residence to be constructed that would use that driveway, and a 6th existing residence has access both to this private driveway and to North Shore Drive. Regarding properties whose only vehicular access is via this driveway, for safety purposes the addresses should be between 4735 and 4755 Tonkaview Lane. This means that residences at 4750 and 4798 North Shore Drive would be changed to 4745 Tonkaview Lane and 4753 Tonkaview Lane respectively, if the change is adopted. The residence at 4784 North Shore Drive could keep that address, because it has a direct driveway access to North Shore Drive. The vacant lot currently known as "4760 North Shore Drive" would be assigned a permanent address once the house was constructed and permanent access location decided. In addition, because this driveway serves more than 3 residences, it is strongly suggested, again for safety purposes, that the addresses and/or property owner names should be posted on a sign at the driveway entrance to Tonkaview Lane. The affected property owners are encouraged to get together and erect an appropriate nameplate sign.
