Dear Sir:
This letter is regarding the two unlicenced vehicles on your property. We have sent you two
letters asking you to remove the vehicles or get them operable and licensed. We have not seen
any progress or any contact from the property owner.
We are giving you until Monday August 27, 2001 to have the vehicles removed, or licensed and
operable, or they will be towed and you will be billed for the cost of the towing.

NOTICE OF ZONING VIOLATION

Conditions exist on the indicated property which constitute a violation of the following section(s) of the
Orono Zoning Ordinance:
X SECTION 9.50. JUNK CARS, FURNITURE, HOUSEHOLD FURNISHINGS AND
APPLIANCES STORED ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY.
It is unlawful to park or store any unlicenced, unregistered or inoperable motor vehicle lacking
essential parts, household furnishings or appliances, or parts or components thereof, on any
property, public or private,unless housed within a lawfully erected building. Any violation of this
Section is declared to be a nuisance and upon seven days written notice to the owner, as shown by
the records in the office of the County Auditor, of private premises on which such material is
found, the City may remove the same and certify the cost of such removal as any other special
assessment. For the purpose of this Section, an inoperable motor vehicle shall be defined as
lacking, including but not limited to, parts essential to operation, such parts being wheels, tires,
motor, drive train, battery, or having two or more flat tires, or having the interior, including the
driver's position, used for storage in such a manner that no person can operate the vehicle.

SECTION 9.55. MAINTENANCE OF PRIVATE PROPERTY.
SUBD. 1. It is the duty of the owner of every vacant property and the owner and occupant of every
occupied property to maintain same in a neat, clean and presentable manner free of any junk,
debris, refuse, litter, dead trees, or noxious weeds, and to remove all other public health or safety
hazards therefrom.
SUBD. 2. Grass and Weeds. The owner or occupant of every lot or parcel shall regularly
cut or otherwise maintain all grass and weeds thereon at a height of not more than six (6) inches.
SUBD.3. Any violation of this section is declared to be a nuisance and public safety and welfare
hazard and upon seven days written notice to the owner, as shown by the records of the office of
the County Auditor, of private premises on which such material is found or any conditions in
violation of this code section exist, the City may remove the same or correct any conditions in
violation, and certify the cost of such removals or corrections as any other special assessment.
Please take action to comply with the above ordinance requirement(s) by July 31, 2001
A follow-up inspection will be made at that time to verify compliance.

FINAL NOTICE OF ZONING VIOLATION

On July 16, 2001 this office notified you of conditions which exist on
the indicated property which constitute a violation of the Orono Zoning Ordinance.
- 2 Unlicensed vehicles
Department staff reinspected the site on August 2, 2001 and noted no
action had taken place to rectify the violation(s). Please take action to comply with the above
ordinance requirement(s) by August 20, 2001 . A follow-up
inspection will be made at that time to verify compliance. If this matter has not been resolved at that
time, a citation will be issued which will require a court appearance.

Dear Mr. Kirchenwitz:
This letter is regarding the vehicles and garbage on your property. We have sent several letters regarding
the unlicensed and inoperable vehicles and garbage on your property. I had a conversation with you and
you said the vehicle would be gone and the garbage would be gone. You removed a lot of garbage but no
progress was made with the vehicle. Now you brought another vehicle to your property and there is
garbage all over the front yard by the road.
If both vehicles are not removed or licensed and operable by July 10,2002 they will be towed and
you will be billed back on your taxes. If the garbage is not removed by July 10, 2002 it will be
removed and billed to your taxes also.
If in the future there is garbage or more vehicles brought on the property the city will remove them and
bill your taxes.

you may be ticketed for the junk in the yard.

21, 2003 to get the property cleaned up. You contacted me with regards to an
eXtension to get the property cleaned up. It was been almost one month since the
property was to be cleaned up and it is still has violations on it. Please get the property
cleaned up and remove the vehicle by May 14, 2003
