The City would like to remind you that lakes and wetlands are not an allowed dumping site for such materials. City Code Section 78-1608 1(c) states: Activities including, but not limited to, building (other than a boardwalk or dock), paving mowing, vegetation removal, filling, dumping, yard waste disposal or fertilizer application are prohibited... This letter will serve as your notice that the property must be brought into compliance before Tuesday, November 23, 2010. In order to bring your property into compliance the leaves must be removed from the wetland by November 23, 2010. Please be advised, if you fail to correct the violation and continue dumping in the wetland this matter will be sent to the City Attorney for review and may result in criminal prosecution. The City offers grass and leaf disposal in the Spring and Fall of each year. Unfortunately, the City site is now closed, but I have attached information from Hennepin County's website of sites that are still accepting such items. New compostable bag requirements Residents in Hennepin County who bag their yard and organic waste are required to put their waste out for pickup in compostable bags.Acceptable bags include either paper (Kraft)bags or compostable plastic bags.This is due to a law that went into effect Jan.1, 2010;Minneapolis residents are exempt until Jan.1,2013.Residents who use yard waste carts or who deliver and dump out their yard waste at compost sites are not affected.
