Thank you for call the City of Orono with your questions regarding a potential pool house/garage addition to your
home. A wetland delineation must be performed. The wetland delineation is submitted to the Minnehaha Creek
Watershed District (MCWD) for their approval. After the delineation has been approved by the MCWD the delineated
edge must be shown on a certificate of survey.
If only a pool house is to be built and it is not attached to the home, it must meet principal structure setback which is 50
feet from the front and rear of the property and 30 feet from the sides. I must also be 10 feet from the home and 35
feet from the edge of the wetland and cannot be built with the wetland easement.
If you are going to potentially have a garage addition which will including a pool house the setbacks are 50 feet from the
front and rear of the property and 30 feet from the sides. The addition must be 35 feet from the edge of the wetland
and cannot be built with the wetland easement.
Attached is a copy of a survey dated May 30, 2003 showing the wetland easement.
