of the drainfield and the saturated soil level.
(The saturated soil level is )/"] or is not [ ] identified under this septic system. If the
saturated soil level is not identified, this classification is subject to revision.)
TANK CONDITION (5-9) : 6
5 Pumpout not needed at this time.
Solids accumulation in tanks indicates they should be pumped out this year.
e System is discharging to the surface. Tanks must be pumped out within 48 hours.

City ordinance number 100 requires that each on-site sewage treatment system in Orono be inspected on a regular basis.
The on-site sewage treatment system at the above address has been inspected and appears to fall into the category
checked below.
(This is&I an existing system ( ) new construction)
SYSTEM CONFORMITY (1-3):
1 "CODE SYSTEM"-A system which meets all the location, design, and construction standards of the current City
Codes, and which is operating satisfactorily by treating and disposing of the entire current sewage input
without discharging any pollutants into ground or surface waters.
2 "CONFORMING SYSTEM"-A system which does not meet all the location, design, and construction standards of the
current City Codes, but was installed according to the code in effect at the time of installation, and which
is operating satisfactorily by treating and disposing of the entire current sewage input without discharging
any pollutants into ground or surface waters.
3 "NON-CONFORMING SYSTEM"-A prohibited system; a system located within a designated 100-year floodplain; any
system which may or may not meet all the location, design, and construction standards of the current City
Codes and which is failing for any reason; and any system with less than 3 feet of unsaturated soil or sand
between the distribution device and the limiting soil characteristics.
(The limiting soil characteristic has or ( ) has not been identified at this time. If the limiting soil
characteristic has not been identi ied, this classification may be subject to revision.)
TANK CONDITION (5-10):
inspection indicates:
Pumpout not needed at this time.
Solids accumulation in tanks indicates they should be pumped out this year to help prevent future problems.
7 Solids accumulation in tanks is at a critical Level. Yanks should be pumped out as soon as possible.
8 System is discharging to the surface. Tanks must be pumped out within 48 hours to eliminate surface discharge.
9 Inspection risers missing-tanks could not be inspected. Inspection risers (4" dia. pipe) must be installed to each
tank at next punpout. If tanks have not been pumped out within the last three years, they should be pumped
out now.
10 Inspection pipe is located directly over tank baffle (does not give accurate measurement of solids accumulation).
If tanks have not been pumped out within the last three years, they should be pumped out now.
DRAINFIELD CONDITION (11-14):
Drb-Mfield inspection indicates:
(l]LJ/Drainfield is dry, no surfacing evident.
12 Some evidence of surfacing, not critical yet.
13 Drainfield is saturated and visibly discharging untreated effluent to the surface. Contact the City Inspector
immediately. Repairs must be completed within 90 days.
14 Drainfield extent and condition unknown.

Orono, Hennepin County
To whom it may concern,
I was contacted by Elmer J Peterson Company to design new septic tanks for the
proposed new swimming pool addition to the house at 1560 Tanglewood Road.In the city of
Orono. The results of the design are as follows.
The existing septic tanks are in the proposed new swimming pool area and must be
replaced.
The existing house has four bedrooms. 2-1300 gallon septic tanks and 1-1300 Gallon lift
station are to be installed. The flow line of the existing tank is at approximately Elv.-969.2. The
inlet flow line of the proposed new first tank should be Elv.-963.0.
See drawing for the location of the new tank.
If you have any questions please call.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Olson

}t SITE EVALUMON Ry%PGRT
FOR JOHN DOUGLAS IN
` LOT 30 BLOCK 1, TANGLEWOOD
November 1, 1978
As requested, and according to the city of Orono regulations, six pereol,,tion
tests and three soil borings Were taken on Cctober 2: -2?, 1978.
These tests were taken in the area shown or, the attached drawing because of
the necessity to be 75 feet from t';e cre(,'c, and the necessity tobe on a slope of
12 % or leas. :ercolation holes were dui; to a 4' inch depth being 5 inches in di-
ameter, while the soil borings were inches in diameter to an 8 foot depth. All
holes were due with a Dayton model 22014C auger.
1 y-!
{ The average percolation rate for the six percolation holes was 115.1 minutes
t:.
per inch. The water tabl- i'or .ti.+rl was 5.1 feet because of the proximity to a
small depression with a perched water table. S.!.fl2 and N3 were farther from the
depression and laded eater since the water table ,probably drops da•..m to eventually
reach the creek level. S.'3.•r3 uas terminate: at :).5 feet because three attempts to
dig deeper were stoprwd tji the presence of rocks at that depth. f
Because of the slew permeability of the so.tls in tris area, anc. the lack of
v other areas on the loz, -hzit meet the req arec,er.ts for a -lrainfi.ald, it is reeom-
mr:nded that sr. innovative mound system be installed according to the city of Orono
.regulations. Should any additional information he reedar., please contact me.

Dear Mr. Douglas:
This letter is to confirm Orono's approval of your proposed
septic system for Lot 33, Block 1, Tanglewood. Your design
plans and site evaluation report are acceptable. It appears
that adequate area exists for future expansions to the system,
if necessary, although some trees would probably have to be
removed.
The proposed drainfield site should be staked off and no
traffic, excavation,• or filling allowed on the site prior to
t installation. Topographical conditions may make access to
the drainfield site somewhat difficult. I would suggest you
contact one or more contractors and discuss this prior to
beginning construction of the house.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Gaffron
Septic System Inspector
