It was elected to locate the system to a positon below the house in the open field(see Figures 1 &2). Due to soil conditions, the system will need to be a mound system. The redesigned system will be configured as follows: 1. The existing SSTS will be abandoned in place according to current septic code. 2. The three 1,000 gallon tanks of your system are all watertight according to the recent septic inspection. 3. The third septic tank currently being used as a pump tank will be converted to a septic tank which will require a baffle to be installed at its outlet. 4. The piping to the old SSTS will be abandoned in place. 5. New piping to the bottom of the slope adjacent to the tank will be installed to code. 6. A surge block(large concrete reinforcement to stabilize the pipe at its bottom)will be installed prior the discharge point in the new tank. 7. A new pump tank will be installed near the foot of the slope. This tank can be either poly or concrete. It must have the proper fitting and be on the MPCA approved tank list. 8. The City of Orono has requested a 1,250 gallon tank which will provide adequate storage for one(1)day of water use. 9. A pump with the proper characteristics will be installed in this tank to feed the mound. 10. The pump should be operated on a"on demand”basis. 1 L The mound will be installed to code and placed on the contour. 12. Because of required setbacks, the lower edge of the mound will be at approximately the lone tree in the open field. 13. The electrical box and irrigation lines will need to be relocated to accomplish this. 14. The disturbed areas will be either seed or sodded as you request.
