Applications for septic system permits may be mailed or submitted in person at the City Offices; however, permits will not be mailed out. The permit must be picked up in person at the City Offices and work must not begin unless the permit card is on the job site. 2. Permits will be issued only to contractors holding a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency(MPCA) Septic System Installers License. 3. All work must be done in accordance with the approved septic system design. Design reports are not considered approved unless accompanied by the "City of Orono Septic System Approval"cover sheet signed by the City Inspector. 4. The following inspections will be required for all septic systems: A. Pre-installation site inspection to include inspector, installer, and general contractor. B. Tank installation prior to covering. C. Drainfield trench installation prior to covering. Far mounds, inspection is required after rough up but prior to sand placement (sand will be jar tested for silt content), and again during pressure distribution piping installation in the rock bed. D. Final inspection to verify proper final cover depths and to verify that all pump stations (where required) components are functional and comply with codes. 5. Individual holding MPCA Installers License shall be present during all inspections. A 24-hour notice is required for all inspections. NOTE: Applicant must initial all spaces. This site has no area available to install a Standard On-site sewage treatment system under Minnesota Chapter 7080 rules due to fill $� compacted soil, steep slopes & drainage. The propasal i� to install a system designed for a Type 1, five bedroom home, in accordance wi,th the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Chapter 7080.0178 and local ordinances a� an Other System. A manitoring plan is required with a minimum of monitoring for hydraulic overloading & monitoring the daily water use. This will need to be determir�eci by the City of Orono. Approval will be needecl tc� be 10' from the property line with the system. The property line is approximate & wi:ll need to be verified prior to installation. The fill & compacted soil will be removed to the loam soil & replaced with washed sand to elevation 88.5 & install a pressurized seepage bed. The saturated soil (redox features is assumed at 18" below original grade, elev.85.5. To help assure long time �erformance, recomm�nd to install a Multi-Flo aerobic Wastewater treatment sy�tem. The highly treated, filtered effluent produced by the Multi-Flo is over 95% free of the normal sewage contaminants that cause the progressive failure of cdnventional systems. The unit will be a 750 gal/day. A trash trap is installed in front of the Multi-Flo. The unit requires to be serviced 2 times a year which will be done by Schirmers Wastewater Treatment Systems, Inc. A 2 year service & parts warranty comes'with the purchase of the unit. After that time, the homeowner is required to carry a Servic� Contract at $150.00 � year (2007 price). A report is sent to the homeowner, city, MPCA & Multi-Flo yearly. � ����� � ,,,�,�„�EDt�. J���� QRONp COPY ' �F�EOR�OQ�1���$�S�fESI�� . • � �I � I�� The1st tank will be a 2 100 allon trash tra dosin chamber reversed usin the 750 9 P 9 9 gallons as a trash trap nd the 1250 gallons as a dosing chamber (pump #1) which will dose 15.6 gallons every 30 minutes with a timer to the Multi-Flo Unit. The effluent will flow gravity from the M�Iti-Flo to the 1500 gallon pumping chamber (pump.#2) which will pressurize the see�age bed. The power supply and switches must be located outside the manhole ar�d pumping chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A warning device must be installe'd with a light and sound device, this is in case of a pump failure. Two inspection pipes v�ill need to be installed, ane to the bottom of the sand fill and one to the bottom of the seepage bed. A water meter or event caunter will need to be installed to monitor daily water use. The homeowner is responsi le for the reading the meter. All neighboring wells are located greater than 100' away from the proposed treatment area. !, i Keep all heavy equipm nt off of the proposed treatment area before and after constru�tion. The trea nt area should be marked off before construction. This Design is not valid &th system will need to be relocated if failure to protect the areas proposed for On-Site S wage Treatment occurs. I Nothing other than hu an waste, toilet tissue, laundry, showers, water softener etc. should be disposed of�nto the septic tanks. Iron filters must be diverted out of the system. Recommend t� divert the water softner also. Garbage disposals are not recommended, due to adding more solids &fine solids passing through to the system. Excessive amounts of�oaps, anti-bacterial soaps, cleaning agents, shower cleaners used every shower & c�lorine agents may kill the bacteria needed to treat septic effluent. Additives are Inot recommended. The trash trap, Multi-Flo and pumping chamber will need to b� pumped out when the setable solids reach 50% in the unit. This will be determine at the time of the services.
