SUBJECT: Certification of Septic System at 80 Smith Avenue
The septic system at 80 Smith Ave. is non-compliant and discharging effluent to the surface. The
City normally requires repair of discharging septic systems within 90 days of the inspection date. In
this instance however, a municipal sewer system is currently being designed to be installed by late
1999. No repair will be required by the City as long as the tanks are pumped out to prevent surface
discharge until sewer is provided.

CONIl�IENTS: In order to confirm that your septic system meets Minnesota standards, soil borings
were performed to verify a 3 foot separation between the drainfield and the seasonal water
table. The separation is 0 feet and the system is non-compliant. The drainfield is also
discharging to the surface and the system must be repaired by 10/13/98 or connected to sewer,
if available.
