Job Number 11-78-56 Dear Mr. Philips : Enclosed is information requested for an on-land sewage treatment system for the above-referenced lot. The drainfield information is based on percolation tests and soil borings performed on October 3 and 4, 1978. Six 6"-diameter percolation test holes were augered to a depth of 3 feet. Three 1"-diameter soil borings were augered to a h of 8. 0 feet. LOT 1 - The soils found on Lot 1 are Hayden clay loam, Glencoe silty clay loam, and Lester loam. These soils are mapped in Figure 1. Soil borings indicate that in the test area the water table is at a depth of greater than 8. 0' . The percolation rate for the primary field as tested was 25. 0 Minutes/Inch. The percolation rate for the secondary field as tested was 27 . 3 Minutes/Inch. The location of the percola- tion test holes, soil borings, and the proposed drainfield areas are indicated in Figure l. Percolation rates and depths to the water table are shown in Table l. The soil logs of the soil borings are shown in Table 2 . Because of the acceptable percolation rates and because of the accept- able depth to the water table, a conventional on-site treatment system is recommended for this lot. This recommendation applies only to the test area. The soils found on Lot 2 are Hayden clay loam, Lester loam, and LeSueur loam. These soils are mapped in Figure 1. Soil borings indi- cate that in the test area the water table is at a depth of 4 . 5' . The percolation rate for the primary field as tested was 44.0 Minutes/Inch. v / } Mr. Paul Philips October 13, 1978 Page Two The percolation rate for the secondary field as tested was 37. 0 Minutes/ Inch. The location of the percolation test holes, soil borings, and the proposed drainfield areas are indicated in Figure 1. Percolation rates and depths to the water table are shown in Table 1. The soil log of the soil borings are shown in Table 2. , Because the water table is at a depth of less than 5.0 ' , a commercial on-site treatment system will not function properly. For this reason an innovative shallow trench system is recommended for this lot. I have enclosed plans and specifications for such a system. This rec- i ommendation applies only to the test area. Stated percolation rates are averaged for the locations shown, and no guarantee is implied or expressed that these conditions exist for the entire test area.
