Hennepin County Board Action Request (continued) """'"� � .°S Requesting Department Public Works Administration Recommendation from County Administrator Recommend Approval Committee Assignment Public Works, Energy& Environment Committee Background History: In 2011, Trinity Lutheran Church, 2060 Sixth Avenue North, Orono, approached Public Works for permission to update their landscaping and sign located within the right of way on County State Aid Highway 6. Permission was not granted because the request violated County Ordinance 22, County Road Right-of-Way Use. It was then determined that the proposed updates were located upon excess right of way which could be conveyed to Trinity Lutheran Church. Trinity Lutheran Church and Public Works agreed upon a segment of the excess right of way totaling 10,132 square feet that is not and will not be needed for future transportation purposes. Current Request: The excess right of way adjacent to 2060 Sixth Avenue North, Orono totals 10,132 square feet and the board is being asked to vacate this excess. Consistent with Hennepin County policy, Trinity Lutheran Church will compensate the county the market value of the land at$3,000. ImpacUOutcomes: The vacating of excess right of way will permit the county to dispose of land that is not needed for existing or future transportation purposes. The excess right of way will be conveyed to an adjoining landowner for$3,000 and will be used to update on site landscaping and signage.
