Box 66 \ - - Orono, MN 55356 Crystal Bay, MN 55323-4066 Ilarch 13, 2003 Dear Neihborhood Residents; The City of Orono has selected a directional boring contractor to complete the pressure sewer installation project in the North Long Lake East neighborhood. This project consists of directional boring a pressure sewer line north of the existing houses, and the provision of a service stub for each house. Directional boring of the sewer should result in minimal disturbance to your property. The only excavations required will be at the service stub, and flushing connection stations. These locations are circled on the attached plans. There mati- also be minimal disturbance in the areas where the contractor sets up the directional boring machine. All disturbed areas vill be restored as part of this project. The project schedule is to have the sewer installed by June 1 st. Connection to the sewer is not required, but the system vill be available for future hookup upon payment of a connection fee. I'he current connection fee is $11,000 per unit. This connection fee is updated each year to account for inflationary increases. In addition to the City connection fee, there is also a Service Availability Charge (SAC) fee that is collected by the City then remitted to the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services. This fee co-ers the capital costs for additional sewer capacity that is included in the metropolitan interceptor sewers and wastewater treatment plants for fi.iture sever connections. This is a pressure sewer s-stem, and each property owner is required to install, operate, and maintain their own private residential grinder pump station. The City will need to acquire a 20-:oot •ide permanent sewer easement acros your property for the installation and future maintenance of the sewer. We would like to obtain a "Right of Entry" to allow access on your property to complete the project construction. After the sewer is installed, the exact pipe location«ill be surveyed and a legal description developed for an easement document.
