General Instructions:
1. You may app ly for septic system permits by mai 1 or in person at the
City offices. However, permits will not be mailed out and must be
picked np in person at the City offices.
2. Permits are not valid until you receive a permit card.
3 . Work must not begin unless the permit card is available on the job
site.
4. Permits will be issued only to contractors holding a City of Orono
Septic System Installer' s License.
5. All work must be done in accordance with the approved septic system
design. Design reports are not considered approved unless accompanied
by the "City of Orono Septic System Approval" cover sheet signed by
the City Inspector.
6. The following ins�ections will be required for aIl septic systems :
a ) Pre-installation site inspection to include inspector, installer,
and general contractor.
b) Tank installation prior to covering.
c) Drainfield trench installation prior to covering. (For mounds,
inspection is required after rough-up but prior to sand
placement, and again during pressure distribution piping
installation in the rock bed.)
d ) Final inspection to verify proper final cover depths and to
verify that all pump station (where required) components are
functional and comply with codes.
7. Individual holding MPCA Installer Certificate shall be present during
all inspections. 24-hour notice is required for all inspections.

This system is Designed for a Type 1, four bedroom home with a
1 bedroom apartment. Designed in accordance with the Minne�;ota Pollution
Control Agency Chapter 7080 and local ordinances .
The soils on this site are typical of SCS soils mapped - HcC2 - Hayden
cl.ay loam. A seasonally high water table was located at 74" , 78" ,
82" & 86" . The bottom of each trench must be lacated at least 3 '
above the seasonally high water table . A Standard Tench System may
be installed.
The soils at a depth of 30" have a percolation rate averae�ing 17. 8
min/inch and are adequate for treating septic effluent.
Al1 neighboring wells are locat��l more than 100 ' away from tl:e propo�ed
treatment area.
This site has an existing failing system. The existing tanks may be
used upon approval by the local Inspector.
Keep all heavy equipment off of the proposed treatment area before and
after conscruction as much as possible. The treatment area should be
marked off bsfore construction. �
With proper installation and maintenance, this system should have no
problem in treating septic effluent effectively.
Recommend to �ump the septic tank every year if there is only 1 tanlc
& every 2 years if tl-iere are 2 tanks .
