Dear Mr. Wyatt,
Thank you and all the staff involved, especially Jim(Pm sorry I lost his last
name), for your prompt attention to my garage project. It can be quite confusing to follow
all the appropriate requirements when very infrequently taking on such projects.
My wife Marsha and myself are thoroughly in love with our property and the
habitat it affords widely varied critters. We will continue to maintain the best possible
environment for the natural filtration of the water runoff to our property and the attraction
of the entertaining critters.
The stakes that Jim observed, on his visit to my property, were of my desired
location of a 24'x36' garage. I've since found out that I must ma.intain a 15' setback from
the east property line, adjacent to the Henn. County right of way, to the county's facility.
The furthest N.E. stake Jim would have observed was 7.5' from that line. Jim
recommended, on my voice mail, not to fill more than 6' north, beyond the N.W. stake
(left rear corner of the garage). Pm revising my plans to fit in as large a garage as
possible. Re-sizing the garage 2' further north, 2' further south (4' larger front to back)
and retract 8' from the east property line, I'll propose a 28'8' garage. Pll check with
the concrete contractor, before finalizing my plan, that we can install the slab without
having to fill beyond Jim's recommendation.
When I have my plans/proposal together, I will supply you with those plans as
requested. I hope to start building the garage as soon as Minnesota spring will allow.
Thank you again to you and your crew at the MCWD for your quick response to
the concerns of my project.
Sincerely,
!°

MEMORANDUM

RE: Permits for 3890 Shoreline Drive, Orono
This memo is to inform th Ciry of Orono and the poperty owner at
3890 Shoreline Drive in Orono that from the current proposal the
project proposed at this locatian does not appear to require pemits
from the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. Due to the size of the
project, it does not appear that the shed construction will involve the
significant amaunt of excavation (5000 ft.2 or 50 ft.3) required for our
Rule 8: Erosion Control permit. In addition MCWD has verified that
the proposed construction area is outside of the wetland boundary,
thereby not requiring the permit for MCWD Rule D: Wetland
Protection. MCWD does, however, request that the necessary
erosion control measures be in plac during construction to stabilize
areas of loose soil around the wetland in order ta prevent any
degradation of the basin.
MCWD also requests copies of the proposed construction plans from
the city and the homeowner and any changes to these plans should
be submltted to MCWO for review and consideration for potential
permits.
